Interview with a customer support representative: frequently asked questions from travelers

Q: What happens the moment I hit “submit”?

A: Your application lands in our secure system, where we run a pre-check for common errors (name/passport mismatches, low-quality photos). If everything looks good, we submit it to the authorities. If we spot an issue, we’ll email you for a quick fix so you don’t lose time.

Q: Can I change my details after submission?

A: Minor typos discovered immediately can often be corrected if the file hasn’t advanced. Once it’s under official review, edits usually require a new submission. Email us as soon as you notice a mistake — speed matters here.

Q: My passport has accents or non-Latin characters. How should I enter my name?

A: Enter your name exactly as it appears in your passport’s machine-readable zone (MRZ) on the photo page. That avoids problems with diacritics, hyphens, and transliterations.

Q: What photo issues cause the most delays?

A: Three big ones:

  • Shadows or overexposure on the face.
  • Cropped passport page where the MRZ is missing.
  • Files that are too small or blurry.
  • Upload a sharp, full photo page and a recent, well-lit face photo against a neutral background.

Q: Can I travel while my application is pending?

A: We don’t recommend it. You must have an approved authorization before you fly. Most ETA decisions arrive within 1–3 business days, but apply at least a week ahead to be safe.

Q: How will I know it’s approved?

A: We email you immediately. The authorisation links digitally to your passport — bring the same passport to the airport. There’s nothing extra to print unless your airline requests a copy of the confirmation email.

Q: Will my airline check for the ETA at check-in?

A: Many airlines verify eligibility before boarding. If your ETA isn’t showing on their side, the usual culprits are a name or passport number mismatch. Contact us right away and have your passport handy.

Q: I renewed my passport after applying. What now?

A: Because the authorization is tied to the passport number, a new passport typically means you need to reapply. Tell us as soon as you renew so we can advise the fastest path.

Q: Can I use an ETA for multiple trips?

A: ETAs are designed for multiple short visits during their validity, provided each trip meets visitor rules. Always travel with the same passport used in your application.

Q: Can I work or do paid gigs with an ETA?

A: No. Visitor permissions allow tourism, short business visits, and similar activities. Paid work or long-term study requires the appropriate visa.

Q: Is there a real-time tracking portal?

A: No. There’s no live tracker. We monitor the status and email you the moment there’s an update.

Q: What if my application is rejected?

A: First, read the reason carefully. Most rejections we see stem from data or image quality issues. Fixing those and reapplying usually resolves it. If you’re not eligible for an ETA, we’ll point you to the correct visa route.

Q: I’m traveling with my family. Can we apply as a group?

A: Yes, you can submit for each traveler and keep the files together. Each person (including children) needs their own authorization linked to their own passport.

Q: Do minors need their own photo and passport?

A: Yes. Even infants need an individual passport and a compliant face photo. Make sure the child’s eyes are open and the face is unobstructed.

Q: I have dual citizenship. Which passport should I use?

A: Use the passport you plan to travel with and that qualifies for the authorisation. You must present that same passport at the border.

Q: Can I apply from a different country than the one I’m a citizen of?

A: Usually yes — your location doesn’t matter as much as your nationality and eligibility. Ensure your contact details are reachable for updates.

Q: What payment issues come up most?

A: Declines from bank security filters and mismatched billing info. If a payment fails, try the same card again after confirming 3-D Secure/SCA, or use another card. We can also provide a new payment link.

Q: Can you fast-track my ETA?

A: There’s no express lane for ETAs. The good news is most approvals arrive within 1–3 business days. For visas, some categories may offer priority processing for a fee; ask us for current options.

Q: What if my travel date changes after approval?

A: That’s fine. Your authorisation remains valid during its validity window. Make sure your new trip still fits visitor rules and you travel with the same passport.

Q: What documents might border officers ask to see?

A: It varies, but be prepared to show proof of onward travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. Keep confirmations accessible on your phone.

Q: What about email deliverability?

A: Check spam/junk and add our address to your safe senders list. If you use an enterprise inbox with strict filters, consider a personal email for the application.

Q: I applied close to a public holiday or weekend. Will that slow things down?

A: It can. Volume spikes and office closures may extend timelines. That’s why we suggest applying at least a week before departure.
